Full-time Legal Assistant

The Legal Assistant will support our attorneys and senior paralegals by managing cases, composing legal documents, and liaising with government entities. The perfect candidate should be a proactive self-starter, capable of working autonomously within a high-speed setting and devoted to delivering exceptional customer service.


Duties:

  • Assist attorneys with case management, including organizing client files and preparing case materials.
  • Draft non-legal documents, including forms, petitions, and letters.
  • Communicate with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to gather information and provide updates on case status.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis as needed to support case preparation and strategy.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain calendars for attorneys.
  • Provide administrative support, such as answering phones, filing documents, and organizing office supplies.

Qualifications:

  • LLM degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Experience in immigration law preferred.
  • Strong document drafting/legal writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other office software.
  • Must be fluent in written and spoken Chinese.

Summer/OPT Internship

The internship will provide you with hands-on experience in immigration law, including case management, legal research, document preparation, and client communication. You will gain valuable insights into the legal profession while contributing to our mission of assisting clients in their immigration journey.

Worksite Address: 1000 Lakes Drive, Suite 380, West Covina, CA 91790
Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday (40 hours per week)

  

Job Duties

  1. Assist attorneys in preparing and filing immigration petitions, applications, and supporting documents, including but not limited to family-based, employment-based, and non-immigration applications.
  2. Conduct legal research on immigration laws, policies, and regulations to support case preparation and attorney advisement.
  3. Draft and review legal correspondence, affidavits, and client declarations under attorney supervision.
  4. Maintain and organize client files, ensuring compliance with firm policies and government regulations.
  5. Communicate with clients regarding case status, document collection, and procedural updates.
  6. Liaise with government agencies, such as USCIS, the Department of Labor (DOL), and the Department of State, to track case progress and respond to requests for evidence (RFEs).
  7. Assist in preparing attorney case summaries and legal memoranda for review.
  8. Schedule client meetings, interviews, and hearings, and coordinate with interpreters when necessary.
  9. Ensure accurate data entry and case tracking in firm case management software.

  

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Law
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
